The final "c" means "stable" the "a" means "experimental", or "alpha".
"c" releases are usually marked as "Featured" (i.e. everyone should use this) and "a" as  "Testonly" (test only).
Basically the "a" is the previous "c" with some added, experimental changes, at next release the latest "a" (which in the mean time has been tested) becomes "c" and the cycle goes on.
